About us

Games you play together.

Wontah is an independent game studio in Accra. We turn the games people already love, on the street, at quiz night, around one big screen, into games for every phone. Wontah means “hear to the equilibrium”.

Our story

Founded in 2016 by Adinan Alhassan · A game studio since 2026

Growing up in Ghana’s Upper West Region, I watched line after line of code scroll across a glowing TV screen and thought it was black magic. To a kid in Wa, it was a Hollywood fantasy. It was never something real, and certainly not something meant for me.

That myth broke in a crowded university dorm room. Between stacks of notes, a roommate spent hours helping me work through math problems. One day he stopped and said, “The way your brain works? You’re already a programmer.” He did not just teach me to code. He gave me a way to see my own potential. By 2015, with my very first laptop, I launched a campus app that connected over a thousand students. It was thrilling and chaotic, and it taught me my first real lesson in the grit it takes to keep software alive.

When our app won the MTN App Challenge, it opened the door to a mentorship with Eyram Tawia of Leti Arts. Eyram showed me that games are more than mechanics and pixels. They carry our culture, our humor and our shared experience.

For years I built heavy enterprise systems for global organizations like Siemens, Bank Misr and Medic Mobile. The work mattered, but my heart stayed with interactive storytelling. I could not shake the wish to build worlds that feel like home.

That pull became Wontah. We build games that capture the soul, rhythm and quiet beauty of everyday life, frame by frame.

Welcome to Wontah. Step into our story.

What we believe

01

Games people know

We start from play that already lives in our streets and homes, told warmly and without caricature.

02

Fair the whole way through

Honest leaderboards, no forced ads, and scores that are checked on our server.

03

Your language, too

Twi, Eʋegbe, Gã and Dagbanli belong in games as much as English does.

04

Better together

Challenge a friend, fill a room, light up a shared screen. Every game is made to be played with people.
